Case Study · Music — Concept

How a touring rock band got a site that hits as loud on screen as they do live — poster type, real tour photography, and tour dates that scan in seconds from a phone.

Case Study · Music — Concept

make the web feel loud

A concept for a touring rock band — Younger Kings — built to carry the same energy on screen that they bring on stage.

The Problem

Most band websites undersell the thing that actually sells tickets — the energy of the live show. A polite template with a tidy tour list reads nothing like the band it represents, and that disconnect costs attention right when it matters most.

Younger Kings needed a site that felt loud before a single note played — poster-grade typography, real tour photography, and a tone that matched the band rather than apologizing for it.

The Approach

I leaned into poster typography, high-contrast photography treatment, and a merch and tour-dates layout that reads instantly on a phone at a venue door. Attitude first, information close behind.

None of it comes at the cost of speed — the loud look is still fast to load and easy to scan, because a fan checking tour dates from a phone in a parking lot doesn't have patience for anything else.

Principle One

poster typography

Bold, high-contrast type that reads like a show flyer, not a corporate template.

Principle Two

real tour photography

Treated, high-energy shots instead of generic stock — the band actually looks like the band.

Principle Three

tour dates, fast

Shows and merch scan instantly on a phone, where most fans are actually looking.
