Case Study · Hospitality — Concept

sell the stay, not the room

A concept for a boutique country inn — The Alder House — built to sell the feeling of the place, with video carrying the calm a photo can only hint at.

The Problem

A small hotel sells a feeling — escape, quiet, a slower pace — and a grid of still photos struggles to carry it. One room starts to look like every other room, and the things that actually make an inn special (the light, the fire, the hush before breakfast) are exactly what stills flatten.

The Alder House had all the character; it just needed a site that let a visitor feel it before they'd read a word — and made checking a date effortless.

The Approach

We led with motion. A slow, warm video hero puts you inside the place before the copy starts, and short looping clips carry the rooms, the long breakfast, and the walled garden — so the site moves the way the stay feels.

Around that, restraint: an elegant serif, generous space, and a check-availability button that follows you down the page. Nothing shouting; everything unhurried, exactly like the inn.

Principle One

video that sells the feeling

A warm, drifting hero puts a visitor in the room before they read a line.

Principle Two

a room you can almost hear

Short looping clips carry the character stills always flatten.

Principle Three

book from anywhere

Check availability is one calm, ever-present tap — never a hunt.
